Jaz Banga is the Founder and CEO of Airspace Defense, leading the development of advanced airspace security systems that protect cities, critical infrastructure, and enterprise campuses across the United States. Under Jaz's leadership, Airspace Defense pioneered Remote ID (drone license plates) in 2016, which is now a federal FAA standard required on every drone over 250 grams manufactured worldwide. In March 2024, Airspace Defense's innovative work was recognized when their drone was inducted into the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum - the Airspace Interceptor was the first fully autonomous, AI-powered interceptor drone funded by the US Army. A serial entrepreneur and intellectual property architect, Jaz has spent over two decades building foundational technologies at the intersection of connectivity, public safety, and national security. He holds more than 60 patents spanning broadband networking, wireless identification, and autonomous artificial intelligence guidance systems. Jaz began his career building high-speed broadband infrastructure with @Home. Following his relocation to Silicon Valley in 2000 and the events of 9/11, he founded and led Unwirenow, which focused on providing critical infrastructure and municipal agencies with resilient wireless networks to improve emergency response and interagency coordination. In 2005, Jaz founded Feeva Technology, a platform that advanced addressable digital advertising performance on next-generation IP networks. Feeva’s patented technology was licensed by both Cisco and Juniper Networks and helped power early municipal WiFi deployments, including Google WiFi in San Francisco. Jaz later co-founded Connected Patents, where he combined behavior design with patent strategy to help file more than 500 patents for venture-backed startups. He served as the IP architect behind notable acquisitions, including Qwiki by Yahoo and Podz by Spotify. From 2016 to 2024, Jaz served as a federal appointee to the Federal Aviation Administration’s Drone Advisory Committee, providing counsel on national drone policy and airspace integration. Today, he continues to shape the future of safe, scalable, and compliant drone operations through Airspace Defense’s patented technology platform.
